Street Academy (H.S.) in Brooklyn, NY is where Nadia Lightbourne found her love for painting. That’s right, she didn’t find a love for “the Arts” necessarily, but acrylic on canvas became an outlet for her to express herself. Nadia’s earlier works were mostly abstract and for herself and family to enjoy. However, as she entered into adulthood, Nadia’s inspiration came from within herself. As a mother, wife and a black woman. Nadia enjoys painting figures of women in all forms of perfect imperfection. She continued to develop her talent behind the scenes, while pursuing a career in Sales. During the height of the 2020 Pandemic, Nadia lost the job she hated and saw it as a sign. She took this loss as a win and began creating. In September 2020, Nadia debuted her own solo work in an outdoor gallery space (her backyard) titled “Allow Me To Re-introduce Myself” and proceeded to claim her spot in the art world.
